Meet your representatives

Guoqiang'Gordon' Feng

My name is Guoqiang 'Gordon' Feng and I am standing for Rototuna Primary School Board. I am currently a candidate for the Rototuna Primary School Board.(School profile No: 6976)

I have been a teacher and Chairman of Youth League at high school in China for more than 9 years. I have a diploma in education in China and MBA from Waikato University in NZ. I am currently working at Skycity Hamilton as an acting Gaming Supervisor.

I hope to become a member of Rototuna Primary School Board and work with other members to strengthen and support the students , staff and parents of Rototuna Primary School.

Grant Lee

Kia ora tēnā koutou,

I am one of the current Rototuna Board of Trustees, having joined as a selected parent representative in September 2018 due to a vacancy on the Board.

I grew up in Auckland, and am of mixed European and Chinese ethnicity. I have been very impressed at the huge improvements in education in comparison to my memories from childhood, especially the culturally appropriate pedagogy that is now being taught. I love the way the school engages with and celebrates diversity within our community. To this end, I have recently started a He Papa Tikanga course to learn how to support and understand Maori cultural practices which are increasingly in demand at school and my workplace at the Waikato DHB where I am the manager of the project management office.

Our family spent 13 years in the UK before deciding it was time for the kids to experience a kiwi education. Settling into Hamilton was made easy by the staff at Rototuna Primary and seeing the quality and professionalism shown by everyone, it was hard not to be drawn towards finding a position to support and give back in some way.

As well as enjoying my time over the last 7 months on the board, you can find me coaching hockey at school on Wednesday evenings.

Regards Grant

Dee-Anne Leith

My name is Dee-Anne Leith and I am standing for Rototuna Primary School Board.

My husband Jared and I have 4 children, Isabella 9, Ava 3 and Kaylee 1. Our son Kayden, a former student of RPS, passed away in 2016. The leadership team, staff and community did such a wonderful job in supporting my family and particularly our eldest daughter transition back to school. It is for this reason that I would love to give back to the school and serve community.

I have a Bachelor of Teaching and a Bachelor of Arts which gives me a sound understanding of the NZ education system and the NZ Curriculum. In addition to that, my husband and I own a video production company and have done so for the past 10 years. In running this company, I have an understanding on finance, personnel management and customer service skills that I believe will help school trustees in making informed decisions to ultimately benefit our learners at Rototuna.

Cultural diversity and equality are strong passions of mine. I come from a mixed European and Maori background (Ngapuhi), and currently tutor English to second language learners. I believe in education for all and helping students to have equal access to a quality education.

Rototuna is currently in an exciting phase as we transition with a new principal, and meet the demands of our growing roll. I’m excited to put my name forward to represent our community and be involved to help Rototuna become the best school it can be. Thank you for your support.

Niwa Nuri

Niwa Nuri Profile Parent Representative Rototuna Primary School I am pleased to put my nomination forward for a Trustee position on Rototuna Primary School Board of Trustees. I do so with the knowledge that I will be able to offer the Board: • 25 years of financial experience as a Chartered Accountant; • experience as a Board Chairman on various commercial and not for profit organisations; • 6 years’ experience as a business mentor on governance and business planning issues; • Chairperson Trust Waikato from 1 March 2013 to October 2018. • Deputy Chairman Wintec (Waikato Institute of Technology) I am a current Trustee, and my previous experience on the Board was 2011 – 2013 where I held the position of Chairman.

I have a vested interest in Rototuna Primary with two children currently attending the school. I believe all children can learn within the right learning environment and that education develops character, values and principles that allow our children to thrive. I also consider being a Trustee as a great way to be involved in and support the school.

I would like Rototuna Primary to continue to be a school known for excellence, in student achievement, and a great place to send our kids.

Robert Kelly Willetts

My name is Rob Willetts and I am standing for the Board of Trustees at Rototuna Primary School. I have 3 Children attending RPS, Connor in Year 6, Caitlin in Year 5 and Logan in Year 2. I am the Chairperson of the current BOT and when I look back I believe that we have achieved a lot in the last 3 years, we have appointed a new Principal, gained MOE approval for 10 extra classrooms, moved to using the Spotlight system to name a few. My background is Commercial Banking with 20+ yrs experience. My current role is a Commercial Manager with Kiwibank, which I believe gives me broad experience across a range of areas that is needed to bring the Governance experience required to the Board. I would like to continue as a Trustee to enable continuity on the Board and finish off some ongoing projects. Namely; work with the New Principal to fully integrate him into RPS, see through the ERO review which is scheduled for Term 3 this year and of course bring to completion the building of the 10 new classrooms, this being just a few of the tasks ahead. I would like to thank the outgoing Board members for their contribution to the school during their time on the Board and I look forward to (hopefully) continuing to work with the returning Board members, newly elected Trustees and with the parents, teachers and all the staff to ensure that your children obtain the best possible primary education and are set up for the move onto the next step in the education system.
